Autistic led, Wired That Way supports individuals and organisations in understanding the unique experiences of neurodivergent people to further improve our quality of life through acceptance and understanding.
As an autistic woman, qualified counsellor and PBS practitioner with over a decade of experience in health and social care, I deliver bespoke, neurodiversity focused packages for people and places who are committed to creating tangible and meaningful change for neurodivergent people. My education and support is available through consultancy, speaker events and training.
I‘m Sophie, an autistic consultant, speaker, and trainer on all things neurodiversity. With a background in therapeutic counselling and complex behaviours, I’ve worked with a broad range of people and places including the NHS, the National Autistic Society, and the charity sector. So what? Well, what really sets me apart is that I’m not just speaking from a professional standpoint, I’m also sharing from lived experience.
Being both autistic and a rare disease patient, I’ve spent my life navigating the complexities of healthcare, maternity care, mental health, and the neurodivergent experience. My role as an expert by experience at Birmingham QE Hospital has shown me how important it is to have someone who truly understands—someone who knows what it’s like to feel invisible in a system that doesn’t always make room for people like us.
After years of feeling unheard, unseen, and undervalued, I realised something important: My ability to speak up and advocate for myself wasn’t just a survival skill, it’s something I can use to help others. I’m determined to create real change, particularly for neurodivergent individuals with complex health needs, both physical and mental.
Through my consultancy, speaking events, and training, I’m here to shake things up, break down barriers, and ensure neurodivergent voices aren’t just heard but fully respected and understood.
I offer tailored consultancy services to help organizations better understand, support, and include neurodivergent individuals. Whether it's creating inclusive policies, improving workplace environments, or delivering practical guidance, my approach is grounded in lived experience and a deep passion for fostering acceptance and understanding. Together, we’ll build spaces where neurodiversity is valued, celebrated, and supported.
With over 10 years of training experience, I design and deliver engaging, impactful sessions tailored to your needs. I’ve worked with the NHS, third sector organizations, and beyond, providing practical, insightful training on neurodiversity, inclusion, and understanding. Always considering the social model of disability, NICE and CQC guidelines, my sessions combine expertise, lived experience, and real-world solutions to empower teams, challenge assumptions, and create lasting positive change.
As a passionate and experienced speaker, I bring a unique perspective to neurodiversity, blending over a decade of expertise with my own lived experience. I’ve delivered talks for a wide range of audiences, ranging from clinicians and academics to parent groups and beyond, sharing insights that inspire understanding, challenge perceptions, and spark meaningful change. Whether it’s a keynote, panel, or workshop, I tailor each talk to leave audiences informed, empowered, and ready to embrace the power of neurodiversity
I design bespoke programmes of support tailored to meet the specific needs of individuals and organisations. Drawing on my experience, alongside being informed by the perspective of other neurodivergent people in my professional and personal life, I create personalised strategies that address challenges in employment, education, and personal life, helping clients achieve their goals with practical, results-driven solutions. Whether you need one-to-one guidance or team-based support, each programme is crafted to foster growth, understanding, and lasting change.
